Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a well-known and well respected player in the virus protection space. It comes in two versions, free and paid. The free version gives you the opportunity to run quick and full system scans on your computer to identify and deal with any threats that may already exist on your system. When problems are identified, you have the option of handling the problem yourself, either by ignoring the problem or having it removed. If you would prefer that the program make such decisions automatically, you can do that as well. Real-time protection is also available, but only if you are willing to pay for the license.
One of the best features of the program is FileASSASIN, which gives you the power to delete locked files. It also has context menu integration. Besides the fact that the free version does not provide you with real-time protection, the other drawback is that you may find that your computer slows down when updates are being downloaded. Such interruptions are brief. If you have the software set up to update itself automatically, you won’t need to worry about updating it yourself, which partially offsets the time lost to the delays in getting updates.
